Beautifully paced with rich description, an intriguing plot, and enough atmosphere to take you right out of wherever you happen to be reading and whisk you off to a particularly creepy mountain road. Well worth checking out!
Ms. Holmes does an excellent job of drawing you into the lives of her characters and keeping the tension high, making you flip the pages. Can't wait to read the sequel!
Devil Unknown will scare you, enthrall you and keep you reading. No one knows the secrets that lurk in Bandit Creek, but Steena Holmes' latest release will keep you in your chair, kindle in hand, until all is revealed in this latest book about Bandit Creek MT.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love thrillers that come down to good vs. evil and that use spirtuality as the basis for the story. Maybe it harkens back to my upbringing, but some of the scariest stuff to me is about the forces of evil beyond anything human - which is exactly the case in Devil Unknown.
Nathan Hanlin has lost his faith due to tragedy. Now he's facing an even greater and older evil that threatens more people he loves. Can his faith save him or is he and everyone in Bandit Creek doomed to face the darkness alone?
This is a wonderfully creepy story that is actually a bit of a teaser. I'm looking forward to reading the continuation in a later book.
This novella had me on edge throughout the entire story. Strange storms, a murder of crows, a strange man... And Nathan Hanlin, a former pastor with a sad and compelling past that haunts him endlessly. Somehow everything is connected, but Nathan can't figure out how. He must confront his past in order to help rid the town of the evil that has taken up residence.
I highly recommend this thriller. It's an unnerving read, and you know you want something to carry over from your Halloween spirit, right?
Readers learn near the beginning of the story that Pastor Nathan Hanlin has had his share of heartache. His father is dead, his mother insane, and his pregnant wife is killed in what he deems is a senseless tragedy. He has now left the church he had been spiritual leader of and is asking not if there is a god, but why God has let him down and abandoned him.
Soon, Nathan questions if an ominous evil presence he can see is actually taking root in the quaint town of Bandit Creek. The good-hearted and god-fearing townsfolk begin to witness what appears to be evil incarnate and Nathan is at the heart of it all.
I was riveted to this story and couldn't put this novella down. Steena Holmes should expand this short story to novel length; she's already tapped into her inner Stephen King!
As the 5th book in the Bandit Creek series it lives up! Chills, secrets, unexpected turns make for tons of fun. As with the other varying genre/multi-author books released so far in this series it is well worth the price.
